Jack Cafferty is wrong yet again

(Hat tip: Hot Air) Jack Cafferty, a commentator at CNN, has gone off the rails again. In this video clip, Cafferty assigns a moral equivalence between the US helping Afghan rebels in the 1980s and Iran supporting the Iraqi insurgency.

The reason the US helped Afghan rebels was that they were fighting the Soviet Union, a country that controlled its territory with a totalitarian fist. Iran is supporting Iraqi insurgents, at the expense of American soldiers, in an attempt to spread its Islamist vision in the Middle East. The United States is not the Soviet Union, and if Cafferty does not understand that obvious difference he's further gone than I thought.
