Albuquerque Joins the List of Sanctuary Cities

After numerous examples of illegal aliens who should've been deported committing crimes in the United States, you'd think the perils of sanctuary cities would be fairly apparent. Albuquerque, New Mexico doesn't agree. Story from KOB.

Effective immediately, Albuquerque police officers who find illegal immigrants will no longer contact either federal immigration agents or the border patrol.

The new guidelines come six years after the Albuquerque City Council passed a resolution saying that no city resources will be used to go after illegal immigrants.

Despite that resolution, two years ago an Albuquerque police officer detained three students at Del Norte High School for being illegal immigrants.

The students sued the police department for violating city policy.

This is highly responsible, yet hardly surprising. Local governments and municipalities obviously feel that the safety of their citizens or the sovereignty of the United States are less important than making illegal aliens feel comfortable. These local governments implement their sanctuary policies despite the fact that such policies are in violation of federal law. It's about time that cities that have sanctuary policies are refused federal funding because of their violation.
